A walk in the park

This morning I rose fairly early and went to the Botanic Garden to meet someone from Metafilter. It’s always odd meeting someone one has only ever seen online, at least partly as one can’t really judge their size. One person I mey last year, whom I’d known for years but only online, turned out to be about a foot taller than, while this person was several inches shorter.

This person is small and thin and with a very small anime voice, very bright, knowledgable and clear-thinking about business operations things. Something I wish I was better at or at least could hire someone to do for me. I noticed at one point that she was wearing a cast and asked her, concerned that we were walking too much – turned out she had broken her foot a few months ago, didn’t notice for a while and then had to have it reset in a particularly involved way. She said she has a high pain threshold, which I suppose she must do.

Anyway, we walked around, chatting about the site and various thoughts concerning its working and what could be improved. After we parted I went off to have a bowl of laksa from a particularly well-known place. It was nice, but a bit watered down compared to my favourite Malaysian laksas, and later I was told (by a Malaysian) that Singaporean health and safety regulations are probably the reason. Perhaps, indeed probably.

Then I went to Uniqlo where I found not one but three pairs of trousers that fit – a rare treat and I bought them all. One was even on sale. Then back to the flat where the Boddisattva was waiting and we went out for coffee. Then out again to dinner, this time for bak kut teh. Not one of my favourite things, but not something I can do with the GF, so it was nice to get the chance.
